Getting Used to a New Role
Tell us about your role?
The role of the Used Car Sales Manager is a varied one, from managing stock levels, making sure cars are fully prepared, priced competitively, and displayed both on the forecourt and online, ultimately ensuring everything meets the high standards required for the Volvo Selekt Approved Used car program. One of the biggest challenges recently has been maintaining stock levels as there has been a high demand for Volvo’s within the used car market.
Another part of my role is to coach and guide the Sales team, sharing the knowledge gained over 25 years. This helps to ensure every customer has a highly professional and enjoyable experience, and that they are offered the best package available.
What drew you to the role at Volvo Cars Poole?
I started in the industry in 1996 at Volvo in Bury St Edmunds. Since then I have worked for a number of brands, but I’ve always had a soft spot for the Swedish brand and I returned to Volvo as a Sales Specialist with Volvo Cars Poole in 2018. I wanted to progress my career further and was pleased to be promoted to Used Car Sales Manager earlier this year.
What does a typical day look like for you?
Each morning starts with a meeting with the sales team, discussing new models we have available, and customer appointments and handovers for the day. From there my days are quite varied, but typically I will spend time assisting the sales team when any additional advice is needed, meeting customers, and ensuring cars are prepared either for display or handover to customers. My main priority is that our customers have a great experience purchasing a car from Volvo Cars Poole!
