Mandatory MOTs reintroduced from 1st August
The Government has announced mandatory MOTs for vehicles in England, Scotland and Wales will be reintroduced from 1 August.
Drivers of vehicles with an MOT due since 30th March have been allowed to delay the test for six months due to COVID-19, contingent on them being kept in a roadworthy condition. However, the six-month extension will no longer be in place for any vehicle due to an MOT from 1st August.
If your MOT expires between 30th March and 31st July, we would still recommend having your car tested to ensure it is safe to drive. Drivers can be prosecuted if they drive an unsafe vehicle, even with the extended MOT expiry date. If your MOT is due from 1st August, normal rules apply.
