Apprentice technician passes with distinction
We are delighted to congratulate Zak Mortimore on passing his final technician assessment with the highest possible grade – a distinction!
Zak joined the team at Volvo Cars Poole in 2017 having previously been a chef for five years. Looking for a career change, Zak decided to follow his hobby and love of cars and attended an apprenticeship open day at Volvo Cars Poole. The apprenticeship offered him the opportunity to complete comprehensive training in our workshop, with support and guidance from our senior and master technicians.
Just over three years on, Zak’s final assessment included two days of practical tasks such as fault diagnostics and repairs, two online exams, and a professional discussion.
Zak said, “My role as a Volvo technician is so varied from fault finding to regular maintenance. No day is the same, one day I can be completing servicing work and the next could be an in-depth diagnostic which I love doing. It’s hard work but very rewarding.”
Leanne Ledger, General Manager said, “We are all very proud of Zak and his achievement and the progress he has made throughout the Volvo apprenticeship program. He is a valued member of the highly skilled team we have in our workshop and we look forward to him excelling as a technician.”
We regularly recruit apprentice technicians at Volvo Cars Poole and within our group, so if you or anyone you know is looking for the opportunity to gain comprehensive training, development, and support in a rewarding role, visit www.oceanautomotive.co.uk
